Rebecca J. Scott MA RCC

Rebecca has worked with organizations including Vancouver Coastal Health and the Ministry of Children & Family Development. In 2011 she opened In Balance Counselling to work with individuals (adults, teens, and children) and families.

Prioritizing mental health and wellness, Rebecca aims to uncover inner-strength and build resilience, practicing a solution-focussed approach. Tailoring sessions specific to the needs of her clients, she employs techniques such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR).

Rebecca has a professional interest in workplace mental health, and particularly first responders. She has been endorsed by the BC Professional Fire Fighters Association.

With a strong appreciation of culture, diversity and identity, Rebecca believes that the community has the responsibility and capacity to enrich people’s lives. She is convinced that “everyone can make it happen”, and feels her ability for empathy and compassion is as a result of her own challenges.

Rebecca has a Masters in Counselling Psychology, and is a Director of the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society. She has been interviewed for television, and published in newspapers and industry journals.
